Building a People First Agency: What It Actually Takes

September 15, 2026

There is a direct line between how an agency treats its people and the quality of work it produces for clients.

A people-first culture isn’t a benefit program or a values statement. It’s the foundation that determines whether the best thinking makes it into the room, whether people feel safe to take the risks that lead to breakthrough work, and whether clients feel the difference between a team that shows up and one that genuinely cares.

At Kaleidoscope, that belief isn’t aspirational, it’s structural. And it’s something I experience firsthand every day in my role supporting the people who make our agency what it is.

My goal when pursuing a career in Human Resources was always to find a company that does exceptional work in a way that genuinely values the people behind it.

Before Kaleidoscope, I spent time across a range of roles where I consistently showed up for the teams I supported. What was harder to find at times was that same investment coming back. The connection, collaboration, and sense that the culture was something real and not just something written on a wall.

A First Impression That Said Everything

My first interview at Kaleidoscope changed that perspective quickly. I was immediately greeted by senior leadership, and to most people that might sound like an intimidating room. To me, they had a way of making it feel like a conversation. They asked the right questions, made the right impressions, and it was the kind of interview that tells you something true about a company before you ever accept an offer.

Culture Starts at the Top

In my eyes, culture starts at the top. Being able to tour the studio after that interview and see that leadership mindset carried through every team and every space confirmed what I had already started to feel. This was a place worth joining.

That belief has only grown stronger ever since. Every department at Kaleidoscope works together toward something larger than any one project. We communicate openly, hold each other accountable, support one another, and bring genuine energy to the work we love to do.

A Daily Commitment

What I’ve come to learn is that building a people-first agency isn’t a destination. It’s a daily commitment. My role is to make sure that commitment shows up in how we hire, how we support our team, and how we grow as an organization. At Kaleidoscope, that work has never felt more meaningful.
