Tradeshow Packaging Tips: How to Win Before You Even Arrive
Tradeshows… 20,000 steps a day and that’s only half the hustle.
We’re about to hit Natural Products Expo and it got us thinking: a successful tradeshow starts long before you reach the convention floor. For brands, planning starts months in advance, and we know from experience that a memorable booth is one that hits all the senses: sight, sound, scent, taste (duh!), and touch.
The multi-sensory, storytelling experience of your booth is a huge factor, and we’ve seen some truly original executions (Rotten comes to mind, with its team of mad scientists in lab coats). And while you’ll get lots of foot traffic—especially if your booth is stroll-stopping—you also have to do the advance legwork to make sure the conversations you do have are productive.
Tradeshows are a big investment of time, energy, and resources. Ideally, you’ll get far more out than you put in. Here are our tips for tradeshow success, so your brand and products show up at their very best (blister-proofing your feet is up to you, friends):
> Reach out to your packaging prototyping partner (ahem) up to 4 months in advance, especially if you want something custom made for your booth. This allows plenty of time for troubleshooting, custom finishes, special runs, internal reviews, and shipping. (P.S. Oversize product samples make for PERFECT viral moments at shows.)
> If you know your retail partners will want sales samples quickly after the show, again, have your prototyping partner on speed dial. Kaleidoscope can support quick-turn projects while you’re still having coffee 🙂
> Seed influencers BEFORE the show. If you know they’ll be there, send them a brand kit in advance, so they can promote you before and during the event. We can help you put together a killer kit that tells your story (we love kits for both emerging and established brands—and if you missed our webinar about the new playbook for successful product launches, reach out for a link to the recording.
Tradeshows are all about tangibility—the unforgettable in-person interactions with people, places, brands, and products. And turning bold ideas into tangible brand experiences is what we do best at Kaleidoscope. We’re excited to see what’s happening at hashtag Expo West, and if you’re planning for Sweets & Snacks Expo, there’s still time to plus-up your booth.

Why Speed Is the Most Important Word in CPG Innovation
Innovation has always driven this industry. But something has shifted. Here’s what we’re seeing, and what we built to solve it.
America250: Stars, Stripes & Standout Packaging
We started thinking about America250 packaging nearly a year ago. The question was never whether brands would show up, it was whether they’d treat the moment as the seasonal packaging opportunity it actually was.
